Since his £4.3M arrival from Rubin Kazan, Carl Starfelt has been a rock at the heart of the Celtic defence.
His stats speak for themselves, and incredibly Celtic have NEVER lost a Scottish Premiership game when he’s he and Cameron Carter-Vickers have started together.
Of the 64 domestic games he’s played here in Scotland, the Swede has been on the losing side just twice over 90 minutes.
However – January signing Yuki Kobayashi is now breathing down his neck, and with an injury hit Starfelt making way for his Japanese team-mate at half-time in Saturday’s win over Hearts, is the door now open for Kobayashi to stake his claim for a run in the team?
Ange stated post-match that Kobayashi will be a “strong contributor” between now and the end of the season – but will that come at the expense of the ever present Starfelt?

Douglas Hay
says:With Alistaire J, CCV, and Starfelt it would be even more solid in our defense with Yuli on the left who is primarily stronger on his left side, strong when defending and who can move into attack. We are lacking in a solid defender who can win in the air, tackle and pick up opposition where needed.
Tino
says:That would definitely make for a solid back 4, but we know Ange likes to get men forward via the inverted fullback approach and not sure if that’s a fit for Kobayashi. It might be, but in the few games we’ve seen him play so far Ange has always used him as left centre half.
